Why Bench & Berm

Honest numbers, explained for beginners

  • The NRR, explained

Every hearing protector we list carries a published EPA Noise Reduction Rating. We show the number, then explain why real-world protection is usually lower and when to wear plugs under muffs.

  • Z87+ or it doesn't make the list

Every pair of shooting glasses we recommend is marked ANSI Z87.1 high impact on the maker's own page. Sunglasses and unmarked frames don't qualify.

  • A published rubric you can check

We compile manufacturer specs, read the manuals and check the standards, then score every pick on weights you can read for yourself. You always see why the top pick won.

  • Written for the first trip

What to bring, what to wear, how the range runs and what the commands mean, explained for new shooters and parents, without judgment.

How this site is funded

Commissions, never paid placements

As an Amazon Associate, Bench & Berm earns from qualifying purchases. When you buy through a link marked #ad, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. No brand pays to be listed, and a commission never sets a score or picks a winner.

Prices are set by Amazon and change often, so we never write one into our own copy. The number on a buy button comes from Amazon's product data and is refreshed daily; when it can't be, the button reads “Check price on Amazon” and takes you to the current listing.
